When Your Power Goes Out, You Need a Local Sparky Who Actually Shows Up

Because we’re based right here on the peninsula, most call-outs are within a 15 to 20 minute drive. You’re not waiting on someone to make the trip up from Brisbane or Brendale. We’re already local.

Whether it’s a safety switch that won’t stop tripping, a switchboard that smells like it’s burning, or you’ve lost power to half the house after a storm, we can be there the same evening. We’re a fully licensed electrical contractor, plus offer free quotes on all jobs and upfront pricing so you know what you’re paying before any work starts.

In an electrical emergency, you need someone local who can get to you fast, diagnose the problem, and fix it right the first time. Our team can help you with a variety of electrical emergencies, including:

» Power Outages & Blackouts

Lost power to your whole house, or just part of it? We’ll track down the fault fast, whether it’s a failed safety switch, damaged wiring or an issue at the switchboard. We’ll have your lights back on the same night.

» Circuit Breaker & Safety Switch Tripping

If your safety switch keeps tripping every time you turn on an appliance or the air conditioning kicks in, there’s usually an underlying fault. We diagnose the cause, not just reset the switch, so the problem doesn’t keep coming back.

» Burning Smells & Sparking

A burning smell from your switchboard or power points is a serious warning sign. Don’t ignore it and don’t try to fix it yourself. Turn off the power at the main switch if safe to do so and call us immediately. We’ll isolate the fault and make your home safe.

» Storm Damage & Electrical Faults

Moreton Bay experiences its share of storms. If lightning or severe weather has damaged your electrical system, caused a surge, or knocked out power to part of your home, we can attend after hours to assess the damage and carry out emergency repairs.

Bjorn from On Electrical has been our electrician for years. He is professional and friendly, and just easy to work with overall. He communicated clearly, showed up on time, and got everything done without any hassle. I’d happily recommend him to anyone needing a reliable electrician.

Excellent service at a good price. Knowledgeable, always on time, efficient, tidy and goes out of his way to make sure the work is perfect. Bjorn is reliable, genuine and helpful (he was able to find the exact model of extractor fan and much better and more stylish light fittings than the ones I considered buying at a big store). Highly recommended. Thank you Bjorn! Fantastic job!

What should I do if my power goes out?

First, check whether it’s just your house or whether your neighbours are affected too. If it’s just you, head to your switchboard and check whether a safety switch or circuit breaker has tripped. If you can see which one has tripped, try switching it back on. If it trips again immediately, leave it off and call us. Don’t keep resetting it — there’s a fault that needs to be found and fixed. If the whole street is out, it’s likely an Energex issue and you can check their outage map or call 13 19 62.

Why does my safety switch keep tripping?

A safety switch that keeps tripping is usually caused by a faulty appliance, damaged wiring, or an overloaded circuit. It’s common in older Redcliffe homes where the original wiring wasn’t designed for the electrical load people put on it today — think multiple air conditioners, pool pumps and modern kitchens all running at once. We’ll isolate the faulty circuit, find the root cause and fix it properly.

Is a burning smell from my switchboard dangerous?

Yes, take it seriously. A burning smell usually means a connection is overheating, which can lead to an electrical fire. Turn off the main switch if it’s safe to do so, don’t touch the switchboard, and call us straight away. Many older homes on the Redcliffe Peninsula still have outdated switchboards with ceramic fuses or old-style protection devices that are more prone to these issues. A switchboard upgrade will usually solve the problem permanently.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency electrician services?

We offer after-hours emergency call-outs until 10pm across the Redcliffe Peninsula and Moreton Bay. For most residential electrical emergencies — power outages, tripped circuits, burning smells — this covers the window where people actually need help. If your power goes out at 2am, it’s generally safe to wait until morning, and most people do. But if you call us in the evening, we can usually get to you the same night.

How much does an emergency electrician cost in Redcliffe?

Emergency and after-hours rates vary depending on the job, but we always provide upfront pricing before we start any work. We offer free quotes and there are no hidden fees. The cost depends on the fault — a simple safety switch reset is very different to diagnosing and repairing damaged wiring behind a wall. Call us and we’ll give you an honest idea of what to expect before we come out.
