Why Split Systems Work Well for Homes on the Peninsula

Split systems are one of the most popular cooling solutions for homes across the Redcliffe Peninsula, and for good reason.

» Cost-Effective

Split systems are one of the more affordable ways to cool your home. If you only need to cool one or two rooms, or you want to add air conditioning to a specific part of the house, a split system gets the job done without a huge outlay.

» Quick and Easy to Install

A split system installation is straightforward and can usually be completed in a few hours with minimal disruption. There are no major modifications to the house, making it a practical option for both older homes on the peninsula and newer builds.

» Room by Room Control

Each unit runs independently, so you only cool or heat the rooms you’re actually using. That keeps running costs down and efficiency up because you’re not paying for climate control in parts of the house nobody is in.

» Heating and Cooling in One

Most modern split systems are reverse cycle, meaning they cool in summer and heat in winter. Moreton Bay winters are mild, but those cold snaps in June and July can catch you off guard. A reverse cycle unit covers both without needing a separate heater.

Why Redcliffe Homeowners Choose Us For Split Systems

We Size It Right

We don’t just sell you the biggest unit and move on. We measure the room, factor in ceiling height, window placement, insulation and sun exposure, and recommend the right capacity. Getting this wrong either costs you money on your power bill or leaves you sweating on the hottest days.

One Tradie, One Visit

Most aircon installers are refrigeration mechanics who need to send a separate electrician to handle the wiring and switchboard work. We do both. That means one booking, one invoice, and one person responsible for the whole job.

We Sort the Switchboard

A split system needs its own dedicated circuit. If your switchboard is older or already at capacity, we will need to upgrade it before the air conditioning can be installed. Because we’re a licensed electrical contractor, we handle that as part of the same job rather than sending you off to find another sparky.

Covered By Warranty

Every installation comes with a one-year workmanship warranty, in addition to any manufacturer’s warranty that applies to the unit. If something isn’t right, we come back and sort it out.

Products and Brands We Use and Trust

We install high-quality split system brands well-suited to the Queensland climate. We’re not locked into one supplier, so we can recommend what makes sense for your home and your budget. We’re happy to talk through the options, explain the differences in energy ratings and features, and help you choose a unit that does the job without overcapitalising.

For the electrical side of every installation, we use Hager, Clipsal and Vultex switchboard components. All backed by manufacturer warranties.

Bjorn from On Electrical has been our electrician for years. He is professional and friendly, and just easy to work with overall. He communicated clearly, showed up on time, and got everything done without any hassle. I’d happily recommend him to anyone needing a reliable electrician.

Excellent service at a good price. Knowledgeable, always on time, efficient, tidy and goes out of his way to make sure the work is perfect. Bjorn is reliable, genuine and helpful (he was able to find the exact model of extractor fan and much better and more stylish light fittings than the ones I considered buying at a big store). Highly recommended. Thank you Bjorn! Fantastic job!

I was so impressed with the help we got Our family had a hospital situation and I rang and asked if we could get this sorted. Nothing was to much of a problem I would thoroughly recommend anyone needing an electrician to use this company. You have no idea how stressful it was for our family. God bless you Our family is just so grateful.

How much does it cost to install a split system?

It depends on the unit size, the indoor and outdoor unit locations, the length of the refrigerant piping run, and whether your switchboard needs any work. We provide free quotes and upfront pricing so you’ll know the full cost before we start.

How long does installation take?

A standard split system installation usually takes between three and five hours. If switchboard work is needed, it may take a bit longer, but because we handle both the electrical and the air conditioning, it’s all done in one visit.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade to install a split system?

Often, yes. If your switchboard doesn’t have capacity for an additional circuit or doesn’t have RCBO’s, it will need upgrading. We can assess this during the quoting process and include it in the price.

What size split system do I need?

As a rough guide, a 2.5kW unit suits a small bedroom, a 5kW unit covers a medium living area, and a 7kW or larger unit is needed for open plan spaces. But it depends on the room dimensions, ceiling height, insulation, window size and which direction the room faces. We measure up and recommend the right size rather than guessing.

Can you service or repair my existing split system?

Yes. We service and re-gas all major brands of split systems. If your unit isn’t cooling properly, is making unusual noises, or hasn’t been serviced in a while, we can inspect it and let you know what it needs.
